Codex Theatre was founded by director, producer and writer Esalan Gates, whose previous productions include award-nominated, five-star UK Tours, Maybe I Should Stop and The Waiting Room.
In an age of disinformation and anti-intellectualism, we use theatre to unpack the systems that shape our world – economics, politics, social structures – and reassemble them into gripping, accessible stories.
We blend sharp writing, visual flair, and dark humour to create work that provokes, empowers, and, crucially, entertains! Our flagship show, Pop Goes the Dollar (21st – 24th August 2025 @ The Hope Theatre), reframed the 2008 crash as a parable for today’s cost-of-living crisis.
